Prepare a bridge bag that stays with you and includes enough clothes for several days, work laptops and chargers, medication and toiletries, school uniforms and essentials, and important documents.

People often underestimate how disruptive a chain break can be. Being properly equipped allows you to stay with family or in temporary accommodation without constant inconvenience.

4. Insurance: The Overlooked Risk

Insurance is one of the most misunderstood aspects of a chain break.

Standard home insurance often stops covering belongings once they leave your old property. Your goods must be covered while “in transit” and while “at rest” in storage.

Always confirm that Goods in Transit insurance is in place and separate storage insurance applies for the full duration.
